|
|
Hi KSB
I am referring to the 9th question in this fortnight's free quiz.
I am printing the question for your reference
What percentage profit does a merchant make if he marks his goods in such a way that the profit he makes out of selling 50 articles is equal to the selling price of 25 articles?
When I solved the question, I got an answer of 50% as the merchant makes a profit of 25 articles when he sells 50 articles. However, the answer mentioned in the site is 100%. Is there a mistake in the way I have done the problem or is it a typo error in the site?
Please clarify.

x = price per..
c = cost per..
50x-50c = 25x
25x=50c
x=2c
(x-c)/c *100 = (2c-c)/c * 100 = 100. |

Thanks Dan
Made the mistake of computing % profit as a % of selling price instead of cost price |
