Q. If x is an integer, is x odd?

(1) x + (x + 1) + (x + 2) is odd

(2) x2 is even

I say answer should be (E).
Am I right?

Statement 1 is definitely sufficient.

x + x + 1 + x + 2 is odd
i.e., 3x + 3 is odd. So, 3x has to be even. As 3 is odd and x is an integer, x has to be even. Note Zero is an even number too. So, we can conclude that x is not odd. As the question is answered, statement 1 is sufficient.

Statement 2 - if the statement is x^2 is even, then it means that x is even. So, it again answers the question that x is not odd. So sufficient.

If statement 2 is how I have interpreted, then the answer is D else it is A
