If a and b are positive integers what is the value of a+b?
1) a/b = 5/8
2) The greatest common divisor of a and b is 1

Both Statements together are necessary to solve.

1) a/b = 5/8 => a= 5/8*b

In statement 2 it is given common divisor of a,b = 1.

and in problem it is given that a,b are integers.

so if b=8, a=5. Hence both statements are required.
