What is the value of m, given that (x + 5) is a factor of x^2 - mx -45 ?

(1) 4
(2) 5
(3) 6
(4) 7
(5) 8

Guess that there is something wrong with the question.

-45 will have -9 * 5 or 9 * -5 as factors,

For X+5 to be a factor, it has to be -9 * +5 for which the value of m would be -4.

Since the minus sign is already given in the equation, m = 4 is the option which reduces to Option 1.
