if M = 4^1/2 + 4^3/4 + 4^1/4, then M =

(A) less than 3
(B) equal to 3
(C) between 3 and 4
(D) equal to 4
(E) greater than 4

M is greater than 4 as

M = 4^1/2 + 4^3/4 + 4^1/4

now 4^1/2 is 2
4^1/4 is 2^1/2 or 1.414
and 4^3/4 will be greater than 4^1/2 that is 2 so
M > 4+1.414
M> 5.414
